Who am I?

I am Susan Douglas, the owner and creator of The Douglas Method,  a well known and highly respected expert in the Health industry and I have not only created The Douglas Method™ a fundamental Trademarked system which incorporates The ACE Protocol© to Analyse the root cause, Correct and Educate Stop re-occurrence, which has been recommended by medical professors and therapists, but have worked with many people from all walks of life – from people suffering with Osteoporosis Or Joint Hypermobility Syndrome – sufferers at all levels of severity and all age groups, through to Commonwealth athletes and Paralympic medallists.

I have offered a variety of classes both physical and virtual for many years and have been helping people just like you, both privately and in group settings since 1999.

So what is a Session?

Anywhere, anytime sessions are either live (depending on the membership level you choose) or pre-recorded video sessions that have been created in short bite size chunks, to allow you to fit them into your lifestyle – they are each 10- 15 minutes, making them easy for you to  to join in live, watch, listen to and follow along with.

You can watch, participate in and re-use the sessions as many times as you wish, from the comfort of your own home.

Each Week There Are Four Sessions For You:

Session 1

Explanation of the weeks movements and the areas of the body we will be focusing on to help You – This session is all about Safety and gives you a detailed explanation of what you should/should not do and the specific safety points depending on the severity of your OP and JHS.

Session 2

Shows you the specific levels of all exercises and movements for the week – Covering absolutely everyone’s ability.  In this session I focus on sharing exactly how to make the exercises and movements work and be most effective for you personally.

Session 3

Lower ability Level full session – Join in as I take you through the complete session so that you can follow along and exercise/move along with me – and can do this as many times as you wish

Session 4

Higher ability Level full Session – Taking you through the complete higher level session – so you can choose when to follow along and at what level you wish to participate in.  You can of course watch, join in and use each session as many times as you wish.

Each week you will receive a variety of movements and exercises that focus on a specific part of the body.  Throughout the year you will discover a host of different types of exercises and movements that will address the following:

FAQ

What If I Cannot Get Down Onto The Floor And Back Up Again?

Not a problem, the levels for every exercise have been designed to take into account that not everyone is able to do this.  You will be able to do your exercises on a chair, standing up or on the floor, totally depending on your own ability.

I Am Not Sure If I Am Capable Of Exercise – Will I Be Able To Do The Sessions?

Yes, because each exercise is created for differing levels of ability, the exercises and movements are suitable for absolutely everyone.  If there are any movements that are not suitable for a specific person/condition, then this is explained clearly at the beginning of the session for you too.

Do I Need Any Special Equipment?

No you do not need any special equipment to participate in the sessions.  You may wish to purchase a mat and a resistance band to use in some of the sessions later on, but you do not need them at the start and Susan also has some great ideas that she shares on how you can utilise other items you already have at home, if you do not wish to purchase these at all.

What If I Am Having Difficulty With Any Of The Exercises?

You should not have any difficulty with anything that is in the sessions, as all issues which may arise are addressed and the levels will explain which exercises and movements are for you.  But if you are concerned at anytime then all you need to do is ask in your membership group and Susan will be there to help.

Can I Change My Membership Level To A Higher Or Lower Level Once I Join?

Absolutely yes you can – just pop us a message and we will sort it out for you straight away.

What If I Join And Then Decide I Don’t Like It And It Isn’t For Me?

I have been working with Susan to help my 6 year old daughter improve muscle tone and strength. My daughter who is very hyper mobile had significant muscle weakness due to the laxity of her joints. We had been to two physical therapists and 6 physicians with no answers until, as fate would have it, I found Susan on a fb group. Susan has identified and treated problem areas for my daughter that no one has addressed prior to this. We have worked on strength building exercises to improve her problem areas and for the very first time we are seeing improvements in her strength and her endurance.
